Barry Greenstein:The Player with a Big Heart

Barry Greenstein is an experienced poker player. He was born on December 30, 1954 in his hometown Chicago, Illinois. He is currently living in Palos Verdes, California with his two children.

Barry was raised in Chicago and completed his intermediate education at Bogan High School. As a young student Barry was good at Science and Math. He attended college at University of Illinois-Urbana-Champain where he received a degree in computer science. He also earned a PhD in Mathematics at the same school.

Barry Greenstein learned poker at a very young age from his father. They normally played some poker games at home. He took poker seriously in 1991 after retiring from his own company Symantec at the age of 36.

In 2005, Barry contributed a chapter for the book Super System 2 by Doyle Brunson. He also wrote his own book Ace on the River. The book details steps on how to win more money in poker. Barry gave free copy to any player who beats him in tournament. He also taught ex-girlfriend Mimi Tran advance poker technique in return Mimi taught him to speak Vietnamese.

Barry has participated in all three Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament series and the four seasons of High Stakes Poker hosted by GSN.

Barry Greenstein owns three bracelets at the World Series of Poker bracelets.

World Championship where he finished at 6th place and won $355,200, WSOP World Championship 7-Card Hi-Lo where he finished at 14th position and winning $18,400 and WSOP No-Limit Duece to Seven Draw with rebuys where he placed at 3rd and earning $22,555

Barry is acknowledged as the "Robin Hood of Poker." He is so generous that he donates part of his winning to charitable institutions. Barry has donated more than $1.5 million to Children, Incorporated, a charitable foundation that provides clothing, food, medical supplies to poor children around the world. Barry also gives part of his winnings to Guyana Watch,a charitable institution that helps mal-nourished children of Guyana. At one time, Barry donated the entire prize money he won in a tournament.
